My Story: Determined Through Hardship
Photography is a challenging skill. There is a lot of technical knowledge about lighting, framing, and composition. All the elements that come together to create a great image are often visual in nature. On that note, there is one aspect of my story that is very important to mention. It is something I have struggled with throughout my life and has impacted my ability to do the things I love – I am legally blind and have been since birth. If a person with normal vision places binoculars over their eyes, that’s what I am able to see. This is important for me to mention because I believe this is another reason why I enjoy photography – when I click the shutter and look at the picture on the camera’s screen, I feel like I am able to see more of the moment. Furthermore, I believe my blindness gives me a unique perspective on the world around me, allowing me to see things in ways other people don’t. While it was a hardship to deal with at first, I was determined to push through the difficulty and have been blessed in my efforts. I am thankful to God that I can pursue my photography passion despite this.
